Icebreaker
Set up the game
You need at least 2 players
How to play
- 1Type the names, choose whether the 18+ questions are in, and how many you want.
- 2The phone draws a question and says whose turn it is. That person answers, and anyone else can chip in.
- 3Move on and it is somebody else's turn. Once the table warms up, start again with 18+ switched on.

Frequently asked questions
- How many players do you need for Icebreaker?
- From 2 to 20. Fewer and it falls flat, more and it drags, though nobody is going to stop you trying.
- Do I have to download anything?
- No. Icebreaker opens in your phone's browser and runs right there: nothing to install, nothing to sign up for.
- Is Icebreaker free?
- Completely. Every card, every level and all six languages, with no account and no paid tier.
- What is the difference between the two options?
- "For everyone" gives you 800 questions about tastes, family, fears, money, bodies and secrets: you can play them in front of anyone. "18+" adds 200 about sex, desire, hookups, drinking and intimacy, and then it matters who is at the table.
- Does it work with people who have just met?
- Yes, and that is where it works best: the questions are specific and everybody has an answer. What brings people closer is not the question itself, it is that everyone answers in turn.
